It Get’s Weird.

Filed under: Work - Ric @ 6:04 am

In the corporate world, paranoia runs deep. My last day is Friday, and without notice or apparent reason, my access has been completely taken away.

…paranoia runs deep…

I tried to find out what was going on and my boss told me to “just stay home”. I tried to tie up some loose ends, but I discovered that every time I sent an email, my boss would have the address blocked at the firewall. Next thing you know, he’ll be rolling three metal balls in his hand and will be demanding to know where his strawberries are.

Another good reason to no longer be there.

This is not an uncommon thing when an IT person is let go. They want to make sure that anyone with special access can do no harm. Still, it makes the employee, especially a good one, feel like a criminal for no reason

True, but when the boss schedules you to be doing some specific tasks and then yanks your access right in the middle of it with no warning, it makes you wonder.

Pretty stupid policy for someone that is leaving, and has given notice. Most IT groups only block access for people they’ve sacked or laid off. Pure common sense, as anyone in your situation wanting to do damage would have done it already. It is simply a little dig from small-minded idiots. So, how do you think they look without their noses?

    Enjoy the paid terminal leave!

Scott how true, how true. Funny thing is, seen through the lenses of 3 days ago, you’d be surprised how little I care anymore. It’s was a cathartic journey to this point, but I’m actually feeling much better.
